Verification FAQ

What Is Verification?
Burg Social may offer identity and age verification through Didit or another third-party verification provider (“Verification Provider”). Where verification is available, Burg Social uses Didit: when you start verification, you may be redirected to or interact with Didit, and Didit processes the information needed to complete the verification check. During identity verification, our identity-verification provider, Didit, may provide Burg with verification results and associated information, including gender information. Didit’s services are governed by Didit’s Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
Verification helps confirm that a real person is behind an account. That is what makes verified-only audiences, Verified Only browsing preferences, higher hosting and leadership limits, and other trust-sensitive features meaningful.
What Happens After Verification?
If verification is successful, your profile may display, where supported by the current product and your settings:
-
A verified badge showing you have completed the verification process.
-
Verified identity/status indicators or verified name information.
These indicators give other users additional trust context. They are informational only.
What Data Does Burg Social Receive and Store?
Burg Social receives and stores only limited verification fields from Didit or another Verification Provider:
-
First name
-
Last name
-
Full name
-
Date of birth
-
Age
-
Gender information
-
Verification status and result metadata
Burg Social does not store raw identity documents, selfie images, biometric templates, face geometry, or provider-decision payloads. The Verification Provider may process sensitive data - including government-issued documents, selfie images, and biometric data - under its own terms and privacy policy during the verification flow.
How Long Is Verification Data Kept?
Limited verification metadata is generally retained for the lifetime of your active account plus 3 years after account deletion. Failed or incomplete verification attempts are generally retained for 90 days.
What Verification Does NOT Mean
A verified badge, verified identity/status indicator, or verified name information on Burg Social has very limited meaning. Verification does not mean:
-
Burg Social has independently verified or guaranteed the user’s identity beyond the verification process.
-
Burg Social has performed a background check.
-
The user is safe, trustworthy, honest, law-abiding, or free of criminal history.
-
Burg Social endorses the user.
-
The verified person will attend any event or appear in person.
-
The user’s future conduct will be lawful or appropriate.
Verification is not a safety guarantee, background check, endorsement, criminal-history clearance, or guarantee of future conduct.
Why Does Burg Social Show Verification or Verified Name Information?
On a social platform where users may meet in person, verification indicators and verified name information provide additional trust context. They help users make more informed decisions about who they interact with - but they do not replace your own judgment or safety precautions.
Is Verification Required?
Verification is optional for basic use of the Service. Verification is not required merely to browse or join eligible public Burg Groups, to browse eligible public Community Events or Group Events, or to RSVP to eligible public Events, where those features are available. Unverified users may also be eligible for limited Burg Group leadership, Event hosting, and Group Chat functionality, subject to lower account limits. Access without verification is not unrestricted: age, location, privacy, moderation, blocking, safety, membership, eligibility, and other applicable rules continue to apply.
Verification may be required for certain features, which may include: creating Burg Groups, Community Events, or Group Events limited to verified people; creating Place Posts; locating verified users through certain people-search features; sending friend requests to verified users; Verified Only browsing preferences; higher leadership and Event-hosting limits; and additional trust and audience controls. Verified users may still browse public content, create public Groups and Events, temporarily turn off a Verified Only browsing preference, and choose public audiences.
Can Verification Be Revoked?
Yes. Burg Social reserves the right to revoke verification status if we determine the verification was obtained fraudulently, if your account violates our Terms or Community Guidelines, or for other safety or operational reasons. Verification may also expire, be denied, or otherwise become inactive.
What Happens If I Lose Verified Status?
If your verification expires, is denied, is revoked, or otherwise becomes inactive:
-
Verified-only Burg Groups you own and verified-only Community Events or Group Events you created may automatically become public, so that you keep access to your own content. This automatic public fallback may occur even if your verification status changes in error.
-
Events limited to members of a Group remain limited to Group members.
-
You may be removed from verified-only Groups you do not own, and your access to verified-only content may end.
-
Your account limits may change.
-
Re-verification does not automatically restore prior audiences, memberships, or RSVPs. You are responsible for reviewing the audience settings of Groups you own and Events you created if your verification status changes.
