Block parties, pop-ups, neighborhood gatherings, one-time meetups, student-hosted events, local celebrations — Community Events are created by people on Burg, not imported from big ticketing or place platforms.

One Burg for everyone. Verification adds trust where it counts.
Everyone on Burg uses the same five surfaces. Explore public Groups and Events before verifying, and complete ID verification when you want additional trust controls, verified-only audiences, and higher hosting limits. Verification is there to support trusted activity, not to gate the basics. Here's what it changes across the app.
Feed and Create
Reading the feed and posting to it work the same for everyone. Verification adds control on top: verified users can create feed posts, Groups, and events that only other verified people can see, plus location-linked Place Posts, while unverified accounts start with lower creation limits. It's more capacity and control — not a different app.
Groups
Anyone can browse and join eligible public Groups. Whether a Group is public or private is separate from its audience: verified users can set a Group's audience to verified people only. Any Group can limit a Group Event to its own members. A verified-only Group can still publish a public Group Event. Verification also raises capacity — unverified accounts hold one Group leadership role, while free verified accounts can primarily lead up to 3 active Groups.
Social
Chats and conversations are part of the core Burg experience for everyone — unverified users can take part in eligible group chats and connect with their unverified friends. Trust boundaries apply around verified people: verification keeps unverified Social people search from finding verified users, and friend requests to verified users require verification. Verifying expands who you can find and connect with.
Discover
Browsing nearby places and public events never requires verification. What changes is eligibility: verified-only content appears only for verified people, and verified users get Verified Only browsing defaults on eligible screens — with the option to temporarily turn that filter off on a single screen when they want to browse everything.
Events
Anyone can browse, RSVP to, and host eligible public Community Events and Group Events, with unverified accounts starting at up to 2 active events of each kind. Verified hosts can choose a Verified people only audience and host up to 10 active standalone Community Events.
Profile, identity, and trust
ID verification helps to confirm a real person is behind an account — that's what makes verified-only audiences and trusted-user boundaries meaningful. It's one layer of trust and audience control alongside Burg's age-cohort, blocking, and reporting protections, not a guarantee of safety.

Hyperlocal apps fail when they spread too thin. Burg is launching across Vermont — sharpening the experience town by town before expanding. If you're a venue, organizer, or community in Vermont who'd like to be part of it, we'd love to hear from you.

Burg is for users 13 and older.
- Adults see adults, minors see minors
Feed and friend-style queries enforce age-cohort visibility, so adult and minor experiences stay separate.
- No live location sharing between users
We don't broadcast your live location to other people on the app.
- No third-party behavioral tracking
Burg uses activity on Burg to make features like Feed more relevant. Local place and event info can also come from direct submissions or documented external sources, but we do not build behavioral profiles with third-party ad trackers or advertising identifiers.
- Verification for trust controls
Verification supports verified-only audiences, higher hosting limits, message-request protections, and Place Post creation. It is not required to browse eligible public Groups or Events.
- Posts stay in the feed temporarily
Burg is built for what's happening here, not a permanent feed archive. You can delete your posts, and account deletion removes your posts and comments under our deletion policy.
